Joshua's New Do

Kevin took Joshua for a haircut last night while I was out w/ Kerri having dinner and attending a gathering at a neighbor's house. Johsua was pleased with himself this morning and knew he was looking rather handsome. When I dropped him off at school, all of the kids were sitting in "circle time" and Joshua plopped himself inbetween his friends Cami Anne and Alexandria. He's quite the ladies' man!

To Infinity and Beyond!

Buzz is a huge "thumbs up!"

My Daddy and Me

Since Kevin and I put Joshua in boot camp this past weekend, Joshua's been a Daddy's boy despite the fact that Kevin is the stern one and giving Joshua new boundaries. There are 3 things that we're working on:
1. Eliminating crutches for sleeping in the big boy bed at night and nap time.
2. Trying and eating more table foods.
3. Using the potty.

In order to have a better success rate, we're working on these one at a time. Last weekend and the next week will be dedicated to number one. We made great progress over the weekend and he no longer needs me to lay in the bed with him to go to sleep at nap time and bed time. This is huge! Our routine now consists of Kevin tucking him in and he then plays/talks for maybe 5 - 15 minutes without getting out of his bed and then falls asleep. During the night, he does't need me either to go back to sleep; however, I am going in the room on avg. once a night to tuck him back in if he does wake up (it's been in the 20s at night). While this is still something we're working on, it sure beats having to actually get in the bed. 7.5 mos pregnant and crawling in and out of his bed wasn't easy when it's pitch black and 3 AM. Once we can teach him to cover himself back up, we'll be ready to move on to number 2.

Projects, Projects and More Projects

I'm definitely in my third tri-mester. The "nesting" effect has kicked in and I can't seem to find enough things to do around the house. I'm driving poor Kevin crazy. Hopefully, I'll start finding projects that are less costly and that were already on the list! We replaced all of the upstairs carpet and the carpet on the stairs last week and wow - it made a huge difference. I'm glad we didn't spend too much though, because once it's in we really couldn't tell the difference between $25 a square yard vs. $35 a square yard. The upstairs seems so much nicer now and I actually smile when I am up there. Kevin loves the new color and I like it a lot and it's growing on me. I may love it one of these days too. But what I do love is our new wrought balusters that we had installed today. An early Valentine's Day gift to each other. They are fabulous and I'm so glad we decided to move forward with this project too.

When we had the carpet installed, I had the installers move Joshua's crib into the baby's room. Joshua is officially in the big boy bed now. And now that the crib is in the baby's room, I started working on the nursery. We have a lot more work to do, but the window panels are up now and that makes the room really come together. I can't wait until we hang up the nautical themed "wallies" and put up the shelves to hold the rest of the nautical themed itmes (all of the same stuff from Joshua's nursery). It's going to be perfect and the baby is going to love it. Joshua is enjoying his "big boy" room and we're going to get him a book shelf and some shelves for the wall too. Kevin is trying to talk me into letting him hang posters... I'm not quite there yet. Maybe in another year or two.

Our friends Max and Jenn are having their baby on Monday, 2/12 - whew! I can't believe it. We hope that Jenn has a good and pain free labor and delivery and that baby Caleb is healthy when he arrives. Best of luck - you're going to need it - ha ha! (for those of you who don't know them they will have 2 kids under the age of 2 as of Monday - their daughter Kate is 16 mos).
